for the next release, eklo 029 follows suit with another split ep with one artist taking each side of the vinyl. this time the label welcomes to the family rené audiard, known for his amazing works on imprint blank state and his great lp project * pechorin* released back in 2012. he brings us * glow*, a weird micro-house shuffling bomb for the a side, full of crazy ambiences demonstrating his vision of the berlin party ! on the b side, label head seuil keeps it bizarre with * model funk*. twisting the groove, he brings breakbeats and that detroit electro feeling on this microfunk number.

the iii rivers juggernaut sets forth once again, release number 4 the charivari ep, putting voiceless in the cockpit and leading the charge. second nature sets a dark, sultry and ominous tone as voiceless deploys a plethora of sounds and moods that resonate with all the tense drama of the labels affiliated club night, bohemian grove.

mallorcas dakpa has been on a roll since amam released his debut ep last fall. he has contributed to several compilations, including amams own hand out series, kina music s fade to k pt. 3 and wizz vinyl s sonar sampler 2014, plus eps for labels like district raw and serial number 849. but amam gets the honor of issuing his first own vinyl release, the distres ep. the opening title track is an exercise in jacking minimalism, vibrant tech house with just the essentials, but more than enough to get the floor moving. then, ademus gets into a slightly more colorful groove, with tropical percussive interplay and some whooping voice for a humanistic accent (is that brigitte bardot?). on the flip, virgo gives a modern update to the frenzy of acid house. the title alone brings virgo four to mind. on that note, this one is an effective tool for warping minds and evoking spastic dance moves. finally, the dependable gaetano vinci a.k.a. hooved reinterprets ademus with a heavy dose of melodic funk and symphonic washes, making the track into an entirely new creation.

after 4 years of silence, kreon & lemos are back with their first release on their own imprint, equivalence. having already a number of collaborations on labels such as be chosen, resopal and we are, the duo finished a number of projects that are going to be released exclusively on equivalence. the first record offers two dancefloor oriented techno tracks with heavy low frequency, modulated delays and heavy filtering - a modern take on the duos past collaborations.

cut a. kaos has been in the music and dj business since many years. last summer, he actively returned into techno with the purpose to create a new album. in other words, he targeted a genuine techno album containing two parts. the first one is a retrospective view to the origins of techno, consequently deep tech is accompanied by clear acid structures, exhibited by artists such as the martian, beltram or the old umek stuff. although many styles are aggregated, they are all pure techno. niereich, austrias number one techno artist, contributed a brilliant remix of *because it s acid*! another artist, edelstahl, produced a remix of *walk and talk*, which resulted in a hard and fat monster!

it s only so long before liam geddes becomes a name you ll start hearing on the worldwide underground stage. having already churned out a number of uncompromisingly deep house tracks over the past couple of years, he comes armed with another exceptional ep on mil - the third release on the new music is love sister label - that further demonstrates his genuine dynamism as a producer. the with closed eyes ep should win this very talented producer the recognition his fresh beat work deserves into the wild gets proceedings underway, a ripping bassline paves out over rattling percussion shakes while oscillating dream like jingles play out during the course of the track. chopped vocal samples are introduced and tease against the shuffling drums which elevates the track with real drive and groove. close ya eyes for the journey packs the same layer of heat with its similarly groove-heavy bassline - a staple of geddes well-crafted sound. firmly footed, intermittent chimes seep into the track and are complemented by siren-like chords which grow truer in presence, until a hypnotic vocal snippet fulfils the deep terrains of the track. a saint is a tumultuous techno-fused roller with it s rip-roaring bassline and percussive loops which rhythmically swing out over shuddering pads, sustained chords and a cut up female vocal, brining a twist of colour to the arrangements of the track. there s a keen sense of tension and release, elevating this above your average and confirms geddes does depth and darkness with real conviction. broke will surely prove a high point for any decent dj set, and sounds like a cut you d expect from someone like delano smith. strings faintly play out over looped key chimes and a funk-like riff, while ticking hi-hats and a careful use of vocal sample gives the track extra heat, each element powered by the rumbling bassline.

number 3 on ruff draft comes from louis guilliaume. having met louis back in 2009 and followed his music since way before then, it was an exciting day when we received these tracks from him. known more for his harder edge techno productions on labels such as soundtravels, bio rhythm holland, teng, sd holland and a remix on skudge, here he edges slightly away from that harder sound. the tracks vary from deep, groovy and meandering house to a beatless soundscape reminiscent of early larkin and pullen to a powerful kick drum driven sermon.

make no mistake, for vault series 15 the doors have been flung open to welcome a new act to the fold. theres very little known about mistake made. no records or releases exist to date, but they have impressed vault chief subjected enough to have them join the sequestered berlin-based crew. and in sublime compliance with the vault series creed, this debut effort from the shadowy outfit presents yet another set of functioning and frill-free dancefloor material, complete with a rusted-through hue of its own. on the a-side >wrist< jumps straight in with marching intent, complete with fidgety hat work thats both anxious and infectious. then on the flip, >ricochet< opens with field recordings tossed into a stormy concoction of ticks, hats and fuzzy atmospherics, teamed up here with one of those basslines that will keep you glued to the floor. >indec< then concludes in signature vault series style an ominous, growling number rattled with alarm bells and screeching, clangorous detail. its one of those monstrous slow-burners that leaves you wounded yet longing for more. all in all, a rounded first release from a new techno tour de force. this isnt the last we will be hearing from mistake made.

zone 4 was the first project that i created as a whole idea, the creation of zone 4 started around the time that the final track selection to a new world was taking shape. it sat for a number of years, shelved till the day that i found a label that would honor it the way i had envisioned.

italys niccolo detti aka nicco launched the recline music imprint mid 2008 and has since gone on to release material from the likes of oxia, mic newman and anonym. here we see nicco return with some new material via the imprint, in the shape of moon games, whilst enlisting some heavy hitting remix artists as well to create a punchy package with a widespread appeal. the original mix of moon games kicks things off, a classic meets contemporary house number. fusing old school elements such as meandering organ lines and stuttering guitar licks, while dubbed out vocals and bumpy rhythms add a modern charm to the composition.

to get things started we have a gorgeous soulful disco number, heavenly vocals, classic disco strings, brass stabs, tight baseline and the drums are pure class, tastefully extended in all the right places so as to stay as true to the original as possible, guaranteed to get your crowd dancing and singing along. on the b side we have one hell of a disco boogie funk bomb, plenty of breaks included in this stomper of a track, sharp drums, powerful vocals, funky baseline, guitar, piano, synths and some brass to boot, mix it all together and you get one hell of a party record.

two years after his debut single he returns with a five track ep featuring i wonder why and four other tracks. his previous work was recognised early by the fader but instead of pumping out more releases, he took his time and the result is a great progression as a producer. not only was the ep recorded at his home, different rooms were actually sampled in the process. all with an increased number of textured synths en better drumlines blending into an ep with a very organic sound.

francis inferno orchestra has steadily released a number of successive calls to the dance floor over the last few years. from smashing pianos on 3am piano thing to bouncing harmonizers on hezbolla, fios simple and subtle approach to song writing is his best asset and the reason we love his music

after the killer first ep, somewhen is back with another stunning work on his own label sana. the follow up 12 inch from somewhens sana tetralogie contains four drifting electronic tracks. on the a side starter *nimbus* is followed by the rite *altar*. banned on the flipside electronic killer *ecsit* merges the sound of somewhen while *koppernigk* isolates our view. unknown number, no repress, no digital download.

the next outing on mora music comes from leeds based tms, delivering two well-rounded & versatile tracks. *fuck you, pay me* is the peak timer with firing, pounding kick drums and off-key stabs in the background. it builds to a crescendo of intense feedback, before suddenly dropping with the bass line you have been waiting for. *slomotion* on the b-side is the slow burner of the ep confirmed by the beautiful hook that comes in halfway through the track. rounding off the release comes a remix of slomotion from mora music favourite bobby o donnell. this hypnotic trippy little number raises the bar, taking the track to an intense dance floor high.

the prolific lord of the isles (aka scotlands neil mcdonald) has had a string of stunning 12 inches over the past few years on labels such as permanent vacation, unthank, shevchenko, mule and of course his four track > year of the city ep< on phonica, which was widely acclaimed upon its release in 2012. this time loti presents two long-form tracks, each a mini-masterpiece in itself. the 10 minute plus >greane< bursts into life after an intro of kicks and white noise hi-hats. it continues to slowly build, with pitch-bent synth lines and a pulsing bass-line making way for a melacholic shift in mood. truly original stuff! on the flip, a swirl of synthetic strings introduces ‘gigha’, in a manner that brings to mind rhythm is rhythm’s legendary ‘kao-tic harmony’, before the drums and infectious acid-line join in. over the 8 minutes they continue to interweave and play off each other to dazzling effect. artwork by jack featherstone, the designer of a number of sleeves for border community (including the highly praised campaign behind james holden’s ‘the inheritors’, its singles and live visuals), electric minds, warm and of course, phonica.

the a f/looped up bass, punchy house drums, filtered vocals are the main order, but make sure you hold out for the drop. the b gives us a functional dubby number, laced with samples from a well known jamaican diva.
